Join us at the September GSA Technology Council Learning Lunch as the Director of Information Technology in South Carolina, Jimmy Earley, discusses the mission of DSIT, his goals, objectives, current priorities and vision for how we can work together to best meet the technology needs of state, county and local government. He will also discuss emerging IT trends and the challenges that he and other state CIOs encounter as they work to better manage and streamline IT across the state enterprise.

About our Speaker:

Jimmy Earley

Jimmy Earley serves as the Director of the Division of State Information Technology in South Carolina. Prior to his appointment to this position, he served as the Chief of Staff at the SC Department of Motor Vehicles (SCDMV) where he managed the agency’s Information Technology, Policy, Communications, Project Management and Customer Service Divisions. While at SCDMV, Jimmy successfully managed the implementation of Project Phoenix. This $45 million dollar project replaced and streamlined SCDMV’s core computer systems and implemented new business processes related to vehicle title/registration, financial responsibility, violations/suspensions and driver licensing.

Jimmy has served in a variety of positions throughout his 24 year career in state government including IT Director and Customer Service Administrator at SCDMV and Information Technology Manager at the SC Department of Public Safety. Jimmy also worked for several years as a staff member in the SC Senate.

After earning a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration from the University of South Carolina, Jimmy began his career as a System Engineer with Electronic Data Systems in Southfield, Michigan. While with EDS, Jimmy worked with General Motors’ Education and Training Division to help support their training facilities and operations.

In his current position as Director of State IT, Jimmy is responsible for managing the state’s Datacenter, Network Services Office, Enterprise Project Management Office, Strategic Planning Office, and the state’s central Security Office.
